Dulli running amuck in the MHOW audience Saturday night during “the slide song” (which he began by sitting down on the stage right in front of me)
“My name is Greg, I play guitar, I’m from Cincinnati - and I’d like to play ‘Unchained’ by Van Halen for you now.” - Dulli guesting with the Foos in 1995 on X-static
THEY ARE BOTH SOOO YOUNG.
Such a Seattle blast from the past. At least for me.

i would… almost do this! i have a palm tree on my charm bracelet that’s my TS totem, but this is amazing.
“I wanted to do a version of this song because I think they might be my favorite set of Leonard Cohen lyrics,” says Dulli. “I think they kind of explain and validate love all at the same time.”
The walls of this hotel are paper-thin
Last night I heard you making love to him
The struggle mouth to mouth and limb to limb
The grunt of unity when he came in

Greg Dulli gets the physical product/mp3 divide well
He’s releasing the most recent Twilight Singers show in NYC, but this is how they’re doing it:
Live In New York will be released digitally worldwide. However, a limited edition deluxe double CD will be made available directly thru the band’s website beginning today.www.thetwilightsingers.com.
This deluxe edition will feature the entire unedited New York performance and will only be available for purchase prior to November 15th. This CD will not be available in stores. Fans who purchase the deluxe CD edition will immediately receive a track: “Teenage Wristband” via email along with receiving the full album digitally on the street date.
This covers:
- The older demo of fans who want a physical product
- The wacko completists who want the entire thing
- The collectors who want a special edition
- The people who dig the music but for whom physical product is irrelevant
It also keeps production costs manageable because they’re timeboxing the deluxe edition. You buy it by 11/15 or you don’t get it. It also doesn’t penalize fans for pre-ordering by making them wait or making them pay twice by giving everyone the record on the street date.
The only thing I find curious is that there is no video component, given that they went to a lot of trouble to set it and shoot it professionally.
This scenario is pretty damn near perfect. Now, please do the same thing for the San Francisco Blackberry Belle show.
I dug through my personal rock and roll archive to make the book trailer for B-sides and Broken Hearts, in which I explain why this book is for you.

Not an amazing photograph of Dulli but if the story is true, this was taken after many beverages.
If the Dulli solo tour had been different, my goal was to lobby him for a cover of “Backstreets” on the piano. Few people could pull it off. He is one of them.
