SO: it starts on christmas and ends on epiphany.
me: what's epiphany?
SO: when they realized jesus was the son of god.
me: wait, you mean the wise men went all that way before they knew he was the son of god?
SO: remember, they saw the star, and they went to check it out. it took a long time to get places in those days.
me: right, right, camels and shit. okay, so i get it, the first day of christmas is when the jesus dude was born and 12 days later is when the wise men got there.
SO: right.
me: why are the wise men wise? like, what was their function at home?
SO: counselors. elders. like shamen.
